Monopoly money? Imagine opening your wallet and seeing a rainbow of dollar bills: a pale yellow $20, a baby blue $50, or maybe even a lavender Benjamin. It isn't that far-fetched. http://money.cnn.com/2002/03/20/pf/q_dollars/index.htm |
Why Daylight Saving Time? Just as sunflowers turn their heads to catch every sunbeam, so too have we discovered a simple way to get more from our sun. We've learned to save energy and enjoy sunny summer evenings by switching our clocks an hour forward in the summer. http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/index.html |

Poker is also known as draw poker. The dealer uses a fifty-two
card deck which is played fresh after each hand. The player
is dealt one five-card poker hand. After the first draw, which
is automatic, you may hold any of the cards and draw again to
replace the cards that you haven't chosen to hold. Your cards
are compared to a table of winning combinations. The object
is to get the best possible combination so that you earn the
highest payoff on the bet you placed. http://www.allgore.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=NS-Video_Poker&file=index

Remember Tab cola? Tab was the first major diet cola. After being very popular in the 80s, Tab seemingly faded into oblivion even as diet soda finally made it into mainstream culture. Coca-Cola (which makes Tab) promoted Diet Coke with NutraSweet instead of Tab which was sweetened with saccharin. Tab is still around, though, but is now made with NutraSweet. http://home.epix.net/~tjwagner/tab.html |
Chisenbop is a method of doing basic arithmetic using your fingers and is attributed to the Korean tradition, The soroban and abacus use similar methods. Probably these other devices were derived from finger counting. The right hand stands for the values zero through nine. Each digit counts as one, and the thumb counts as five. The left hand represents multiples of ten, with the right thumb representing 50. http://klingon.cs.iupui.edu/~aharris/chis/chis.html |
