Rules
of thumb for Etiquette is really important. Remember to respect the celebrity's privacy, and treat them with respect. Don't Run. As for approaching a celeb for an autograph, it has been suggested that you don't run. It has to be scary for a celeb to watch several fans running at him or her, and some celebrities/sports stars run away from running fans. Be polite, say please and thank you. And if they look like they don't want to be bothered, chances are that they don't want to be bothered. But it never hurts to ask. Try not to bother them if they're eating. It seems like the most common courtesy, but it's amazing how many people screw this one up. When getting a celebrity in person, you're usually not the only one waiting, or who's noticed him or her. So don't be obnoxious. If you insist on dozens of signatures, or offend the celebrity, chances are the celeb won't sign for the other people. Hell hath no fury like an autograph-hunter scorned by someone else's stupidity. If you see a celebrity with his or her family and/or definitely on personal time, you might just go and say hello and how much you like their work, or whatever and then ask where you could write them for an autograph. You might be surprised and have them offer right there From Autograph Collector |
