Seattle, Washington 8:00 A.M. I'm on a business trip here and this is the view from the window of my hotel which sits on the Puget Sound. People think it rains a lot here, but the rainiest inhabited place outside of Washington state in the continental United States is near Mount Washington, N.H., where annual rainfall averages 89.92 inches. Seattle gets 37.9 inches. Ketchikan, Alaska, gets 155.22 inches, making it the rainiest U.S. city .
