What we did on Columbus Day . . .

A near-dead tree, a $39 chain saw, and a sunny autumn day in Maryland
added up to a long afternoon of work. Cutting the tree down is only the start of the job. Chopping it up once it's felled is the real back-breaker. You hate to cut any tree down, but it was mostly rotted and was a real danger to fall on the house, or possibly on the power line to the house.

Puppets & Dummies
Over the years, the Maher workshop has handled repairs, renovation, and restoration of figures and puppets of nearly every make. They also feature a variety of products and services for ventriliquists. This is a fascinating website.

For the Friend who has Everything
Why not give him a $20 paperweight filled with kangaroo poop? Seriously. You can even buy it by the jar. Like the website says: "Uniquely Australian in the true sense of the word - it's a no bullshit product. It's 100% unleaded, organic, recycled and biodegradable. No additives and no preservatives just pure essence of kangaroo." Kangaroo poop not your cup of tea? How about Koala poop earrings?
